With buzzing anticipation in our hearts we took our seats for the roller coaster journey that is TRIOPS; a heady mix of live music, film and curious goings on. From the trio's robotic entrance to their grisly badger baiter thriller, from priceless moments like blind man with monkey to set closers 'My Bicarbonate of Soda Submarine' and 'Warning! This is what an Arse Does!' , this was an effervescent pleasure to watch. An escapist trip to transport you refreshingly far from these material-driven modern times, awakening desires to go loopy around the maypole a la Whicker Man and bringing to mind creative 'happenings' of the 60s (except we all had our clothes on).
Mr Thomas Hughes's songs are a blissful antidote to the flimsy, pseudo-musical fodder piped into our houses while we doze on sofas - beautifully penned gems of thought & spark, evocative stories conjuring up a delicious mix of the poignant, bizarre and surreal.
In the words of one audience member, uttered wistfully over an interval whiskey 'I don't want it to end!'.
